Exciting things are happening for the Kenari Quartet!  A few months ago, we applied for a Classical Commissioning Grant through Chamber Music America, which would give us the opportunity to collaborate with a composer to produce a new work for saxophone quartet.  Commissioning new music is important to us because we believe in the powerful relationship contemporary music has with audiences, as well as supporting composers in the music making process.

We are very happy to announce we have been awarded a grant and our tenor saxophonist, Corey Dundee, will be composing a piece to be premiered in early 2017!  You can check out Corey’s work at www.coreydundee.com.  Anytime a musician or ensemble commissions a new work, they work together with the composer to produce something unique, and this time we are lucky enough to be best friends with our composer.  We look forward to working with Corey and sharing his music with you!

This commission has been made possible by the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program, with generous funding provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Chamber Music America Endowment Fund.
