Our recital and masterclass tour in California has finally come! After two and a half days of intense rehearsal and planning, we feel ready to give masterclasses and recitals to share our love of chamber music with college, high school, and middle school students in the Fresno area and at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
I think that most musicians can identify the moment at which they knew that they wanted to play music for the rest our their lives. For many, this moment is their first time hearing a particularly instrument, or hearing an amazing performance. Others may say that it was when they heard about how fulfilling music can be from a particularly inspiring musician. If we can leave California having created that moment for even one person, this would be one of the most successful things we’ve done as a quartet to date.
It is so exciting to continue our transition from being a student ensemble at Indiana University to engaging with the world as professionals. However, it is even more fulfilling to be able to share our story and what we’ve learned with other budding music students and other audiences. We hope to, through our passion for chamber music, spark a passion in everyone we reach to perform, listen to, and support music and the arts in general.
